SCROLL

It’s no secret that Minecraft is wildly popular, but can students learn through gameplay?  Yes they can! Minecraft is educational because it enhances creativity, problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration, and other life skills. In the classroom, Minecraft complements reading, writing, maths, and even history curriculum.

We have built a custom Minecraft Marine adventure for students to explore the unique and exciting roles of marine scientists and experience scientific investigation challenges. In this asynchronous program, teachers have access to all resources to introduce Year 7-10 and VCAL students to the ocean environment and solve the mini-challenges in their chosen research fields.

Students interact with 8 different characters about their role in the research mission and get the opportunity to undertake tasks that help them to understand the ocean environment around them.

Using the in game materials, students must work on their own experimental design to solve the mini-challenges in their chosen fields. Students will record the work they have done in understanding the ocean world surrounding their vessel.
